Matias Duarte

Matías Duarte (born 1973 ) is a Chilean interface designer and is currently Vice President of Design at Google . Before his current role, he was the director of user experience for the Android operating system . The first version with elements of his design was Android 3.0 "Honeycomb".

Career

Duarte started his career at Psycroft, where he worked on the computer game xBill . In 1996 he switched to Hyper Image, 1997 to MagicArts and in March 2000 to Danger, where he worked on the Hiptop and won the “Industrial Designer Rave Award” with his team. From 2005 he worked at Helio and from 2007 at Palm Inc., where he led the development of the human interface and the user experience of the webOS. In March 2010, Matías Duarte was hired by Google as Director of Android User Experience, where he worked on the interface and design of Android 3.0.
