Match Against Poverty

The Match Against Poverty is an annual football deficit game since 2003 for the benefit of the victims of humanitarian disasters. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is organizing the game with the help of UN ambassadors Zinédine Zidane and Ronaldo .

history

In 2000 the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were developed. The UN has set itself the goal of halving the number of people who are hungry and live below the poverty line by 2015. Then the UNDP ambassadors Zinédine Zidane and Ronaldo decided to host the Match Against Poverty. From 2003 onwards, the world's football elite met annually to help people affected by natural disasters.
