Mateng Pollkläsener
Mateng Pollkläsener (born November 30, 1960 in Wiedenbrück as Martin Pollkläsener ) is a German actor, cabaret artist and director. He is one of the founding members of the theater du pain .
Live and act
Private
Martin Pollkläsener was born and raised in Wiedenbrück (now Rheda-Wiedenbrück), North Rhine-Westphalia, the son of the master baker and confectioner Heinz Pollkläsener and his wife Margret, née Kleibaumhueter, with an older brother and a younger sister.
When his brother Uli returned home from a trip to South America in 1976, he temporarily adopted a South American dialect: “My brother Martin” became “Mi hermano Mateng”. He quickly became a brother again, the nickname Mateng remained. He still bears this name today. In the meantime he is entered as a stage name in his passport.
Mateng Pollkläsener learned to be a carpenter. He has been married to his wife Rita since 2002, whom he met when the theater du pain first performed on September 1, 1984.
Artistic career
theatre
During his apprenticeship as a carpenter, he played as a drummer and singer in a band. He also demonstrated his first acting talent in performances in a youth group. Brother Uli was so enthusiastic about his role as Danish cook from the “Muppet Show” that he persuaded him to follow him to Paderborn. On the second educational path he made up his Abitur and founded the performance group “The Six Correct” with his brother and four other companions. These appeared as street theater far beyond the borders of his home region.
The theater du pain was created in 1984 from “the six correct ones” . Hans König and Mateng Pollkläsener from Bremen established themselves with a changing ensemble with their bizarre and ludicrous programs in the German off-theater scene. To this day, the features section loves this anarchic mixture of absurd wit, malice and a good deal of self-irony.
In the warehouse in Bremen, the theater du pain offered ideal conditions for constantly staging new programs. Wolfgang Suchner, who comes from Wuppertal, has been a permanent member of the ensemble since 1999.
From 1997 to 2002 the former street artist was a member of the ensemble of the Bremen Goethe Theater and was involved in opera productions such as “ Carmen ” and “ The Discovery of Slowness ” or in the musical “ West Side Story ”.
As before, it is a third of the theater du pain, which u. a. 1995 was awarded the WDR audience award "Prix Pantheon Bonn", to be seen in Germany and neighboring countries. In addition to this tradition, the actor is looking for new challenges as a member of the ensemble of the young Bremen theater, in a theatrical city action for the Year of Science in Bremen, in an open-air production of "Moby Dick" in the historic port of Vegesack, a district of Bremen, or in the project "Science Cliption", science in a nutshell.
Movie and TV
Mateng Pollkläsener was also a guest on film and television. He made his celluloid debut in 1985 in “La Poetica Norma”, a tour from Trieste through Germany as part of the “Blue Caravan”, which was documented by both ARD and ZDF. He was seen in a guest role in the ARD early evening series “Not from Bad Parents” and “From Good House”, as well as in the feature film “Crazy for Paris” directed by Pago Balke and Eike Besuden .
