The Grundlsee material ropeway is a Lorenseilbahn in the Styrian Ausseerland , near Bad Aussee and Grundlsee . The system is used to transport gypsum and anhydrite raw stone.

The 8.4 km long railway connects the opencast mine in Wienern  ( ) on the southeast side of the Grundlsee via the drive station Auermahd  ( 1160  m above sea level ) and Straßen-Anger  (angle support Radling am Radlingberg ) with the unloading station ( ) over several hilltops . at the plasterboard plant of Rigips Austria in Unterkainisch . It crosses the L731 near Angern in a listed roof structure. World icon World iconWorld iconWorld icon

The drive is based on gravity, which means that the heavier loaded hunte keep the system in operation. A hunt takes about 45 minutes for a one-way trip. The annual transport capacity is around 275,000 t. The cable car transport saves around 23,000 truck trips annually in the holiday region around Lake Grundlsee.

The railway was built in 1951 and originally transported the excavated material to the Salzkammergut Railway (siding). In 1970 the German building materials manufacturer Rigips settled in, built the plasterboard factory and took over the material ropeway. From 1990 to 1992 the plant was shut down due to the major fire in Unterkainisch, then the rebuilt plant could be put back into operation. The plant was completely renovated from 2012 to 2017, and due to the good deposits in Vienna, a further operating period of at least 30–40 years is planned.
