Mathematische Nachrichten is a specialist journal for pure and applied mathematics. It is published by Wiley-VCH Verlag .

The Mathematische Nachrichten was founded in 1948 as a publication by the Research Institute for Mathematics of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin and the mathematical institutes of the Humboldt University in Berlin by Erhard Schmidt together with Georg Hamel , Helmut Hasse , Hermann Ludwig Schmid and Kurt Schröder and was first published by Academy Publishing House . Currently the chief editor is Reinhard Mennicken.

The professional focus is on all sub-areas of analysis , algebra , number theory , geometry and topology , fluid mechanics and theoretical aspects of stochastics .

The journal's impact factor in 2012 was 0.576. In the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge , the journal was ranked 145th out of 295 considered journals in the mathematics category .
