Mathilde Brückner

Mathilde Brückner , b. Schwahn (born November 5, 1868 in Göppingen ; † April 10, 1958 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Mathilde Brückner was born in Göppingen. In 1894 she married the metal printer Julius Brückner (1866–1943) and had two children with him. Although her husband was expelled from the SPD in 1913, she joined this party. As a housewife, she became a member of the Göppingen Workers' Council in 1918, and chairwoman of the (non-partisan) Göppingen Women's Association in 1919. Mathilde Brückner was extensively involved in the social field in Göppingen.

In 1919 Mathilde Brückner was elected to the state constituent assembly , to which she belonged until 1920. In the following years Mathilde Brückner ran for the Reichstag twice without success . In 1932 she replaced the late Gottfried Kinkel in the state parliament, to which she belonged until 1933. She was the first woman ever to be a member of the Göppingen City Council from 1922 to 1933.
