The beach at Matilda Bay

Matilda Bay is a bay on the Swan River in Perth , Western Australia . It houses a medium-sized marina in the southern part. Further north, sandy beaches and green meadows are popular destinations for both locals and tourists.

The bay is right next to the University of Western Australia campus and is also used by various clubs at the university for sporting activities (e.g. paddling).

The water in the bay is salty due to its proximity to the sea and is subject to the tides . In the Australian summer (around December to March) you can find many jellyfish here - including fire jellyfish (stingers). There are many starfish in the river itself .

At the point of Matilda Bay, the width of the Swan River is almost reminiscent of a huge lake, on the opposite bank of which you can see the skyline of Perth.
