Matkot
Matkot is a popular ball game in Israel and is referred to as a type of national sport.
Matkot is not a competitive sport, but a pure pastime on the beach, with at least two or more players playing a small ball similar to tennis. The clubs are made of wood, older ones even made of stone. The ball is the same as in squash . Beginners play with a slightly lighter ball.
The origin of matkot is not clear. It is believed that he came to Israel with Yemeni Jews . The word Matkot is said to come from an Arabic word madka or the Hebrew word makah , which means "blow".
Matkot is mainly played in Israel. In Brazil, where there is just as much life on the beach, it's called Frescoball .
