Matmos

Matmos is an experimental band from San Francisco, founded in 1995 by musicians MCSchmidt and Drew Daniel (solo as The Soft Pink Truth ). The name Matmos refers to a living liquid from the 1968 science fiction film Barbarella . They mainly publish on the Matador Records label .

As producers Matmos draw for the album Vespertine by Bjork responsible. Matmos also produced some songs for their follow-up album Medúlla .

style

Many of her pieces can be found near the Musique concrète . In addition to conventional instruments such as keyboards and guitars , Matmos also use various noises , samples and field recordings . Are used surgical operating instruments, turning the page of Bible pages, electric guitars five dollars , contact microphones on human hair, helium tanks , skull , playing cards , cellos , violins , insects , ukuleles , falling onto a drum tablets , barking dogs, vorlesende people under the Salt crunching on your feet or ice thawing in the sun .
