Matt de la Peña
Matthew "Matt" de la Peña is an American writer for children and young adults who specializes in novels for young adults.
Life
Born in the city of San Diego, California , he received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Pacific . He then received his MFA in creative writing from San Diego State University . For Last Stop on Market Street , Peña won the Newbery Medal in 2016 . He currently lives in Brooklyn , where he teaches at New York University .
