Matteo Rosso Orsini

Matteo Rosso Orsini il grande (* around 1178 in Rome , † after October 13, 1246 there) from the widely ramified Orsini family was an influential Roman senator . He was probably the eldest son of the merchant Giangaetano (Johannes Gaitanus) Borbone-Orsini and his second wife Stefania Rubea. His son with Perna Gaetani, Giovanni Gaetano Orsini, became Pope Nicholas III in 1277 .
