Matteo Orsini
Matteo Orsini OP († August 18, 1340 in Avignon ) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church .
Career
Orsini taught theology in Paris, Florence and Rome. In 1322 he became Provincial of the Roman Province of the Dominican Order . 1326 he was appointed Bishop of Girgenti elected in Sicily, the episcopal ordination donated him the Cardinal Bishop of Sabina , Guillaume Pierre Godin . In June 1327 he became Archbishop of Liponto . Pope John XXII. took him on December 18, 1327 in the college of cardinals and gave him the titular church Santi Giovanni e Paolo . From December 1338 on he was Cardinal Bishop of Sabina . He was buried in Rome in the church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva , the tombstone was made by Agnolo di Ventura .
