The Archdiocese of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo ( Latin : Archidioecesis Sipontina-Vestana-Sancti Ioannis Rotundi , Italian : Arcidiocesi di Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo ) is an archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Italy with its seat in Manfredonia .
history
The 3rd century diocese of Siponto , which was elevated to an archbishopric in 1074 , was united with the diocese of Vieste on June 27, 1818 and was henceforth called Manfredonia-Vieste. After it had already lost its metropolitan status on April 30, 1979 and had now become a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Foggia-Bovino , it was also given the name of the pilgrimage site of San Giovanni Rotondo on December 6, 2002 and is now called the Archdiocese of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo.
