Diocese of Vieste

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The former diocese of Vieste ( Latin Vestanus ) in Italy with the bishopric in Vieste was founded towards the end of the 10th century. We do not know anything about the assignment at that time, from Paschal II Vieste was the only suffragan to be subordinated to the Archdiocese of Siponto .

Ugo Boncompagni, later Gregor XIII. , became bishop of Vieste in 1558.

On June 27, 1818 it was abolished and united with the Archdiocese of Manfredonia.
