history
In the 11th century the diocese Ascoli Satriano was established. In 849 the Ascoli Satriano diocese was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Benevento as a suffragan . On June 14, 1819, the diocese Ascoli Satriano was renamed by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution Quamquam per Nuperrimam in Diocese Ascoli Satriano and Cerignola .
The diocese Ascoli Satriano and Cerignola was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Foggia as a suffragan on April 30, 1979 . On September 30, 1986, the diocese Ascoli Satriano and Cerignola was renamed the Diocese of Cerignola-Ascoli Satriano .
