Matthias Göstl

Matthias Göstl (born August 7, 1868 in Laa an der Thaya ; † April 6, 1927 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ) and master carpenter. Göstl was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1920 to 1927 and held the office of mayor of Laa.

Göstl attended six classes of elementary school before he attended a three-year assistant and master course at the Vienna State Trade School. Göstl then worked as a master carpenter and business owner in Laa an der Thaya.

In addition to his job, Göstl was involved as head of the building trade cooperative between 1903 and 1915 and was also active as chairman of the commercial advanced training school council in Laa from 1908 to 1914. He then served in the First World War between 1916 and 1918. After his return from military service, Göstl was active as chairman of the district council of farmers, district council of poor, deputy chairman of the warehouse cooperative and member of the board of trustees of the trade promotion institute of the Chamber of Commerce in Vienna. He was also chairman of the Christian Social Association in Laa and worked as Vice Mayor of Laa. Between 1926 and 1927 he also held the office of mayor.

Göstl represented the Christian Social Party from May 20, 1919 in the Lower Austrian Landtag and was a member of the Lower Austria-Land Curia between November 30, 1920 and May 11, 1921 during the separation phase of Vienna from Lower Austria. Göstl was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament until his death.
