Matthias Kuhlmey

Matthias Kuhlmey (born February 28, 1966 in Hanover ) is a former German professional footballer.

career

Kuhlmey was brought into the professional squad in 1984 from Hannover 96's own A-youth team. Hannover rose in the 1984/85 season under coach Werner Biskup in the 1st Bundesliga. Kuhlmey managed to fight for a regular place in his professional year as an 18-year-old. In the 1985/86 season he made 23 appearances in the 1st Bundesliga and also played his way into the field of vision of the senior national team, but there was no appeal. In 1986 he was relegated to the 2nd division with Hanover. Kuhlmey stayed with his club until 1997.

In 1987 Kuhlmey took part in the military world championship in Italy with the Bundeswehr national team and finished second.
