Matthias Oldag

Matthias Oldag (* 1954 in Lutherstadt Wittenberg ) is a German opera director and theater director.

Matthias Oldag first completed a degree in mathematics . He then began studying directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . Since 1989 he has mainly worked as an opera director. But he also took on productions in drama, dance theater and the entertainment branches of musicals and operettas. From 1991 to 1993 he was employed as the successor to John Dew as an opera director at the Bielefeld Theater. From 1993 to 1995 he worked as a director at the German National Theater in Weimar.

From 2006 Oldag was general manager, managing director and opera director of the Theater & Philharmonie Thuringia in Gera and Altenburg.
