Matthias Willerotter , in the sources also Willenrotter , Wildrother u. called (* unknown; † August 18, 1745 in Mindelheim ) was a plasterer and bricklayer in the 18th century.

Willerotter settled in Mindelheim in the early 18th century. The time and its origin are unknown. The name can probably be traced back to the place Wildenroth, now Grafrath near Fürstenfeldbruck. There must have been a special relationship with the Countess Muggenthal family on Bedernau, since the young Count Johann Nepomuk Ludwig von Muggenthal and his mother Isabella, née. Countess Oettingen-Baldern, three of his children born in Mindelheim (1737, 1738 and 1741) sponsored them. He lived in Mindelheim until his untimely death.

His outstanding works include the rich rococo stucco work from 1739/40 in the summer refectory of the Mindelheim Franciscan monastery Heilig Kreuz and the delightful stucco work with a stucco altar in the Franz Xaver Chapel of the former Mindelheim Jesuit Church of the Annunciation .

He continued to stucco

  • 1740 the former monastery church of the Franciscan Sisters St. Ursus in Klosterbeuren
  • 1741 the new slatted vault (stitch cap barrel) in the choir of the pilgrimage church St. Leonhard in Apfeltrach
  • 1742 a chapel in the former Jesuit college in Kaufbeuren
  • during this time in the Mindelheimer Spitalkapelle during its redesign

To this end, he was given stucco work on the upper floor of the Mindelheimer Marienapotheke and in the former Kurfürstl. Attributed to Jagdhaus on Hermelstrasse.

His style draws on Dominikus Zimmermann's treasure trove of stucco motifs and thrives on the lightness and charm of Rococo.
