Maurice Lacroix SA is a Swiss watch manufacturer in the middle to upper price segment, with production facilities in Saignelégier and Montfaucon . Maurice Lacroix became known with the stylized M in the signet .

overview

Every year, Maurice Lacroix manufactures 120,000 watches, 50,000 of which are mechanical. The company under the holding of the same name, based in Zurich , was majority owned by the Zurich-based DKSH until 2015 and employs around 200 people, including around 170 at the international headquarters in Biel and in the production facilities in Saignelégier and Montfaucon in Switzerland. "Maurice Lacroix" was the name of a member of the board of the parent company. He passed away at the time when the company was considering launching its own watch brand. His name was chosen as a brand name in his honor.

Foundation and company history

The brand was founded by Peter Brunner, President and Delegate of the Board of Directors of Desco von Schulthess AG. In 1961, Desco von Schulthess AG in Zurich acquired an assembly company in Saignelégier in the Jura for the manufacture of private label watches for the national and international market. In 1975 the brand was founded in Saignelégier and the company sold the first watch in Austria under the name Maurice Lacroix. The brand name was introduced in Spain in 1976. In the 1980s, an international sales network was established and the company's German headquarters were opened in Pforzheim . In 1989 Maurice Lacroix acquired the Swiss case factory Queloz SA, which also produces cases for other well-known watch brands.

In addition to numerous models with quartz movements, a mechanical watch collection with technical innovations as a trademark came out in 1990 under the name Masterpiece Collection , which was provided with blued screws and polished bridges. As a quality feature, Maurice Lacroix was one of the first manufacturers to create the opportunity to look into the movement through the glass case back.

In autumn 2001 Maurice Lacroix SA , previously a division of Desco von Schulthess AG , became an independent legal entity. DKSH has held the majority in Maurice Lacroix since July 2011 . In 2006, Maurice Lacroix presented his first chronograph caliber (ML 106), developed in collaboration with watch inventor and designer Andreas Strehler . The complex movement components for mechanical calibres are manufactured in our own workshops in Montfaucon near Saignelégier. Maurice Lacroix can therefore be counted among the Swiss watch manufacturers . Today (2012) Maurice Lacroix is represented with around 200 employees in around 3300 specialty stores in over 60 countries around the world.

Maurice Lacroix has not been part of DKSH Holding since 2015.
