He is a member of the editorial board of the magazine "Teologia". He has been a full member of the Pontifical Academy for Life since 2017.

Positions

During his research and academic activities, he deepened mainly theoretical questions of general and specific moral theology: examination of the philosophy of Ricoeur and his theological hermeneutics, method of theological fundamental morality, conscience and law in their mutual reference, prudence (phrónēsis, prudentia), the judgment, the anthropological sense of being born, dying and suffering. In this context, and with reference to the eighth chapter of the post-synodal letter Amoris laetitia , Chiodi teaches that there are circumstances under which remarried divorced people can be admitted to the sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist [Note: Coscienza e discernimento. Testo e contesto del capitolo VIII di Amoris laetitia, San Paolo, Cinisello Balsamo (MI), 2018, 121ss]. In this theoretical framework he has also expressed the opinion that there are circumstances under which the use of artificial contraceptives is morally a "possible good". [1] In an interview with the Italian newspaper Avvenire in July 2019, Chiodi also stated that homosexual acts in the context of a "stable relationship" can be morally good under certain conditions, but not without the need for the virtue of " Chastity ”. In addition, he proposed considerations that clearly oppose heterologous artificial reproduction
