Maurizio Melina (born July 15, 1975 ) is a former Swiss - Italian football player .

He began his football career in the junior division of FC Rotkreuz . His talent was recognized early on by FC Luzern , which guided the young player into his junior department. 1992 debuted Melina as a midfielder in the first team in the then National League B played. In the following three seasons he made 21 appearances in the National League A before moving to the neighboring club SC Kriens in the 1996/97 season.

When he arrived in Kriens, after two years of getting used to it, he developed into the most dangerous striker in the National League B. Between 1998 and 2002 he won the title of top scorer four times in a row .

A short detour to FC Sion , which was marked by injuries, was followed by a quick return to SC Kriens in 2004, where he could no longer fully build on his old scoring threat despite important goals.

Since the 2006/2007 season he wore the colors of the SC Cham , with which he was able to achieve the surprising promotion to the Challenge League in 2007 . After relegation in 2008 , he ended his career.
