Max and Luzie (comic)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Max und Luzie was a 74-part German comic book series that was launched in 1983 by Compact Verlag in cooperation with Allianz Versicherung . The series was discontinued in 2002.

The draftsman was, among others, Franz Gerg . Marie Ranke and Wolfgang J. Fuchs provided the book templates . The main author, however, was the editor Monika Sattrasai, who wrote 34 scenarios of the 68 issues before the relaunch in September 2001. Each issue consists of around 20 pages and contains a comic as well as a preview of the next issue as well as 2-3 pages for a so-called exchange of ideas (jokes, riddles, internet tips) and an action stage (e.g. handicraft instructions).

content

The story tells of the adventures of the children Max and Luzie, who travel through time together with the ingenious but very absent-minded inventor Kieks. Kieks, who succeeded in the pioneering invention of a computer that makes space and time leaps possible, has constructed a mobile aircraft that can be used to move through time. This is made possible by the travelers stepping on the pedals. The harder you pedal, the further you get into the past.

So the three of them can travel to the different epochs of human history. You visit famous people such as B. Leonardo da Vinci or Marco Polo ; but also get to know the Vikings or pay a visit to Sparta . The protagonists Max and Luzie gradually travel to all five continents. So play parts of the comic series z. B. with the Incas in South America or with Al Capone in North America, with Cleopatra in Egypt (Africa), with the Teutons in Europe, in Siam (Asia) or also in Sydney (Australia). They are constantly getting into some kind of adventure and not infrequently in danger, but can always free themselves with skill and cunning. Once your on-board computer goes crazy and you end up in the future of planet earth instead of in the past. But they can also free themselves from this situation.

Characters

Kieks:
Kieks, a technician and inventor ingeniously developed. In spite of all his intelligence , however, his clumsiness and his tendency to chaos turns out again and again . In almost every episode he crash-lands with the time machine.

Luzie:
Luzie is an intelligent, nice girl who likes to tutor Max in history . When things get tough, she encourages the two male representatives again and again and can also be very angry if something does not work out the way she had in mind.

Other characters who will support the three protagonists in later editions:
Professor Shu, Dr. Laluna

Change of protagonists

How the characters and the comic series have changed over the course of 20 years of history can be seen in retrospect in the last published comic book Max und Luzie Mississippi-Melodie (2002). In the course of time, not only the characters became more and more cheeky and modern, but also the means of transport. In the course of time, the tandem-style air bike, which was previously used for locomotion, will be replaced by a rapid timebreaker. With the edition "In the eye of the typhoon" not only the characters Max and Luzie have been modernized, the layout of the entire magazine has also been revised. Also with Professor Shu and Dr. Laluna launched two new characters.

background

The purpose of the comic series was on the one hand to convey historical knowledge to children and young people who were Max and Luzie's target group. On the other hand, advertising for Allianz insurance was packaged in each episode . The booklets could be purchased free of charge.
