Max Murray

Max Murray (* 1901 ; † 1956 ) was an Australian writer .

life and work

Max Murray was one of the last writers to put their crime novels on paper in the classic way. The author, about whom only a few details are known, published his first detective novel "The Voice of the Corpse" in 1947 in the Saturday Evening Post . The book was published shortly afterwards. The response to this novel was so positive that M. Murray had little choice but to write more detective novels. Nine other novels in this genre followed.

His novel "The Neat Little Corpse" was filmed in 1953 by Lewis R. Foster with Ray Milland in the leading role ("Jamaica Run").

Murray worked at times as a reporter in Australia, USA and England . During the Second World War he was employed by the British broadcaster BBC .
