Max d'Ollone

Max d'Ollone (born June 13, 1875 in Besançon , † May 15, 1959 in Paris ) was a French composer .

D'Ollone studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Jules Massenet and won the Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1897 . He worked as music director in Angers, as director of the Opéra-Comique , professor of chamber music at the Conservatoire de Paris and inspector for music lessons. He was also known as a conductor and musicologist.

In addition to eleven operas and a ballet, d'Ollone composed several orchestral works, chamber music and songs. Some of his works have recently been recorded, some for the first time. The Quatuor Parisii with Patrice d'Ollone recorded a number of chamber music works (including Fantaisie Orientale ), the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra under Lawrence Foster (2002–03) its most important orchestral compositions, including Le Ménétrier for violin and orchestra.
