Maxar Technologies is a US company specializing in the manufacture and operation of satellites for the primary purpose of earth observation . Maxar also manufactures spacecraft that dock onto existing satellites that are lacking fuel and that keep them maneuverable with their own engines (so-called Mission Extension Vehicles ).

The company's predecessor was founded in 1969 under the name MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates in Canada . After the takeover of DigitalGlobe , the company was renamed Maxar . The subsidiary DigitalGlobe supplies, among other things, Google Maps with satellite images.
