Maxim Lasarewitsch Schirwindt

Maxim Lasarewitsch Schirwindt ( Russian Максим Лазаревич Ширвиндт ; * 1893 in Lida , Vilnius Governorate ; † December 19, 1936 ) was a Soviet philosopher .

Life

Maxim Schirwindt studied law at the University of Kharkov until 1916. In 1917 he joined the Bolsheviks , from 1919 to 1920 he served in the Red Army. From 1921 to 1924 he studied philosophy at the Institute of the Red Professorship . In 1923 he supported the Left Opposition . After further studies in London and Berlin, he taught in Leningrad from 1925.

Schirwindt published a textbook on historical materialism, as well as works on Schelling, Einstein, American New Realism, modern psychology and psychoanalysis. In 1927 he signed the platform of the 84 . The following year he was expelled from the party for the first time, and then arrested in 1933. At the end of 1936 he was sentenced to death and shot.
