Maybole Castle

Maybole Castle is a manor house in the Scottish village of Maybole in the Council Area South Ayrshire . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

history

The manor was built as the seat of the Earls of Cassillis . It was probably built in the early 17th century, possibly under John Kennedy, 6th Earl of Cassilis , but it could also be fewer decades older. Maybole Castle was inherited within the family and is therefore available to today's Marquess of Ailsa . The manor house was expanded in the 19th century. The lands of Cassillis and Culzean Castle are administered from there. In 2009 Maybole Castle was inscribed on the List of Endangered Listed Structures in Scotland. Its condition was last classified as good in 2012. That year, the conservation authorities put around £ 110,000 in restoration.
