The Mazar-e-Quaid , also known as the Jinnah Mausoleum or National Mausoleum, is the final resting place of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah , the founder of Pakistan . The mausoleum also houses the final resting place of Fatima Jinnah , known as Māder-e Millat, and Pakistan's first Prime Minister, Liaquat Ali Khan . The mausoleum is located in the Jamshed district in Karachi , Pakistan

history

The then President Muhammed Ayub Khan laid the foundation stone for the mausoleum on July 31, 1960. The provincial government of Azad Kashmir provided building materials. The mausoleum houses copies of Jinnah's biography, ancient coins, and a copy of the Pakistan Resolution . The mausoleum is located in the Jamshed Quarters district of Karachi near Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The mausoleum is surrounded by a large garden that exudes an atmosphere of calm. The mausoleum was built in the 1960s and opened to the public in 1970. and is a landmark of Karachi. The mausoleum is often visited by tourists

architecture

The Jinnah Mausoleum was designed by the well-known architect Yahya Merchant. The design of the mausoleum is based on the Samanid mausoleum in Buxoro , Uzbekistan .

The mausoleum is made of white marble with an arched Moorish arch. The mausoleum is located in a 53 hectare park. The mausoleum has a square footprint of 75 × 75 m with a height of 43 m. The height of the base is 4 m. There is an entrance to the mausoleum on each side of the mausoleum. There are 15 fountains in front of the mausoleum. Inside the mausoleum is a chandelier that Pakistan received from China . The mausoleum is illuminated by four lighting systems at night. There are a total of 4 graves in the mausoleum: Fatima Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan, Nurul Amin and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. All graves are kept simple and are on a platform. Fatima Jinnah's tomb is the only one covered with black flowers.

The mausoleum is the scene of official and military ceremonies. The mausoleum also pays tribute to Jinnah by showing a 3D projection.
