The Mbeeli ya phoko is an African sword . African swords were developed and used in different countries and by different ethnic groups in Africa as weapons of war, hunting, culture and class. The respective designation of the weapon refers to a variant of this weapon type that is assigned to a certain ethnic group .

description

The Mbeeli ya phoko has a straight, double-edged blade. The blade tapers from the handle to the point and has a central ridge. The tip ( place ) is diamond-shaped. The hilt has a short iron crossguard. It is made of wood and is wrapped in places with metal wire. The pommel is made of wood and also wrapped with wire.

The Mbeeli ya phoko is made by tribes of the Kwango Kasai group in the Central African Republic , in particular by the ethnic groups of the Pende and the Yaka .
