McGuire (Formula 1)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

McGuire was a Formula 1 team that had its only entry at the 1977 British Grand Prix . Its founder and team boss was the Australian racing driver Brian McGuire.

history

After a few successful Formula 3 races for Brabham in Australia, McGuire bought a Williams FW04 and modified it for the British Shell Sport races, a mixture of Formula 1 and Formula 5000 . In the winter of 1976/77, McGuire revised the car again and adapted it to the current Formula 1 regulations. With the converted Williams, which he called BM1 , McGuire registered as a private team for the British Grand Prix in 1977, but was eliminated in the pre-qualification. There should be no more reports in Formula 1; on August 29 of the same year Brian McGuire had a fatal accident while driving a test at Brands Hatch .
