Mchitar Anezi

Mchitar Anezi ( Armenian Մխիթար Անեցի , also: Mkhitar , Mekhitar d'Ani , Anetsi , Mxit'ar, Anec'i) was an Armenian historian from the second half of the 12th century to the beginning of the 13th century. He lived in the monastery of Horomos near Ani .

Mchitar wrote a universal story (Մատեան աշխարհավէպ հանդիսարանաց - Matean aschcharhawep handissaranaz), of which only a single, incomplete version has survived. In it he took parts of the universal chronicle (Ժամանակագրություն - Shamanakagrutjun) by Samwel Anezi .

Works

The work is said to have consisted of three parts. Only the beginning of the first part is preserved. This contains a story from the time of the Armenian King Paroyr (Paruyr, ~ 700 BC) to the reign of King Gagik I Bagratuni (~ 1000 AD).
