Basic sketch of Clyde Tombs - Meallach's Grave corresponds roughly to the illustration above

Meallach's Grave is the remainder of a Clyde Tomb , which is not far from Lamlash on the east side of the Isle of Arran in North Ayrshire, Scotland . Like the Carn Ban megalithic complex in the interior of the island, Meallach's Grave is also located on a terrace above a narrow valley through which the Allt Lagriehesk flows, a tributary of the Monamore Burn, which gave the area its name.

The facade of the Cairn is uphill on the terrace. The original hill material is not visible with the exception of a few rocks on the northern edge of the cairn. The cairn is trapezoidal and has a length of 12 to 13 m. Two orthostats, which form the access to the chamber in the center of the semicircular exedra , are visible up to a height of 1.1 m, two more protrude 0.3 m from the ground on the southwest facade. The cairn appears to have only the remains of a panel-like facade, but the 1961 excavations have shown that most of the stones are underground, suggesting that the cairn may be well preserved in the front area for its height .

The chamber opens to the southwest and consists of six large side panels, some of which overlap like scales, and an end panel. The capstone (s) is missing. Behind the two portal stones of the facade is a second pair of stones, which reduces the access to the chamber to a 0.5 m wide gap and is the same height as the side chamber stones. The chamber made up of three pairs of overlapping panels, each pair of which forms the side of three compartments, which are marked by side stones.
