The mechanized troops and Light ( French troupes mécanisées et légères ) were a branch of service of the Swiss Armed Forces from 1962 to 2003.

The military branch existed in the structures Army 61 and Army 95 . Since then, the name armored troops has been used, with mechanized units now also being used by the infantry , artillery and engineering troops .

In addition to the tank and armored infantry units, the MLT also included the light troops, which were equipped with wheeled vehicles or bicycles. This included the cycling troops , reconnaissance and tank destroyers, as well as the staff functions (staff company).
