The medal "50 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR" ( Russian Юбилейная медаль "50 лет Вооружённых Сил СССР" ) was an award of the Soviet Union , which was donated on December 29, 1967 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Soviet armed forces in one stage. The award was made to all military ranks in the army as well as to retired military personnel. The medal was also awarded to members of the Ministry of Public Order and Security of the USSR and Red Guards .

The 37 mm by measuring gold medal from brass displays on its obverse a Red Sowjetstern are in the recessed 19 mm diameter medallion the heads of two Red soldiers to be seen. The back symbolizes the beginning and the front that of 1968. To the left and right of the two heads are the years of the Red Army 1918–1968 . The red star rests in front of a ray structure and is enclosed by two laurel branches that are crossed at the bottom and bent upwards. The lapel of the medal shows a five-pointed star with round tips, in which the symbol of a hammer and a plow are embedded. Below is the three-line inscription: Пятьдесят Лет / Вооруженных сил / CCCP (Fifty Years of Armed Forces of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). The medal was worn on the left side of the chest of the borrower on a pentagonal blue clasp, in the middle of which a white-red-white-red-white central stripe is woven. The interim clasp is of the same quality. 9,527,270 medals were awarded.
