The medal 40th anniversary of the founding of the Romanian Communist Party ( Romanian Medalia jubilară 40 de ani de la înfiinţarea Partidului Comunist Român ) was a state award of the People's Republic of Romania . The foundation took place on May 20, 1961 by Decree No. 118 of the Council of State ( Consiliul de stat ). The statutes were published in the Romanian state gazette ( Buletinul oficial ) No. 10. The medal, which was donated in a class, was given to party members, the activities in the founding phase , in the consolidation of the party or in the implementation of party politics had. The award was also made for services in building socialism.

Appearance and wearing style

The gold-plated medal shows the symbol of the Communist Party of Romania on its obverse , i.e. H. Hammer and sickle between two ears of corn and the party abbreviation PCR . The years 1921 - 1961 can be read under the party symbol . The reverse of the medal shows a branch of laurel and the six-line inscription 40 DE ANI DE LA INFIINTAREA PARTIDLUI COMMUIST DIN ROMANIA .

The medal was worn on the upper left chest of the borrower on a 24 mm wide red pentagonal clasp. Four 1 mm wide yellow central stripes are woven into the ribbon.
