The Medal for Heroism / Medal of Valor / Medal of Valor ( cz. Medaile Za hrdinství ) is a state award of the Czech Republic .

It was established in one step by the Czech Parliament on October 2, 1990 by Law 404/90 . It is awarded to all those who, at the risk of their own lives, have rescued other people from mortal danger or salvaged goods of significant economic value at risk of death or protected them from worse damage. The medal of bravery is presented to the recipient in a festive act together with a certificate by the President or one of his authorized representatives.

Appearance and wearing style

Consisting of silver existing coin with a diameter of 33 mm shows on its obverse the Czech lions and including the two-line inscription Za hrdinství (for heroic). The reverse shows the large national coat of arms of the Czech Republic and the award number stamped underneath. The medal is worn on the 38 mm wide ribbon in original size only on festive occasions on the upper left side of the chest. The ribbon is golden yellow and shows in the middle the national colors of the Czech Republic, white-red-blue. Their ratio is 14.5 mm: 3 mm: 3 mm: 3 mm: 14.5 mm. For civilian clothing, a 38 × 10 mm clasp is worn on the lapel, which has the same texture.
