The medal for loyal service in the German People's Police was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which on April 28, 1955 in three stages; but only in bronze , was donated. They were awarded after a certain number of years of service, if these had been carried out "honestly, conscientiously and in the faithful fulfillment of duties". In contradiction to the introduction of three levels, however, only two statements are mentioned in all pronouncements. So from the

  • Level II: for 10 years of service and
  • Level III: for 5 years of service.

Level I for 15 years of service has probably not been awarded due to the short life of this medal. Their award was stopped again on January 21, 1959. It was replaced by the new medal for loyal service in the armed organs of the Ministry of the Interior , which was founded on January 22, 1959.

Appearance and wearing style

The bronze medal with a diameter of 38 mm shows a police star on its obverse on a grained background, which has a central round field of 25 mm diameter. Seen inwards, it is followed by the inscription: FÜR TREUE DIENSTE ( above) GERMAN PEOPLE POLICE (below). In the center is the state flag of the GDR in the form of a coat of arms, still without the state coat of arms and underneath the Roman numerals: I , II or III , which should also represent the awarded level. The Roman number III stands for five years of service and the number II for 10 years of service. A version with the number I has not yet become known. The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the GDR's national coat of arms in an older version. The medal was worn on a pentagonal dark green 24 mm wide clasp. In the second stage, two vertical red central stripes 1.5 mm wide were woven in in the middle, which were 1.5 mm apart. At the III. Accordingly, there were three median strips. The interim clasp with the dimensions 24 × 13 mm was of the same quality as the ribbon.
