The medal for outstanding achievements in the field of domestic and communal services of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The medal was donated on January 30, 1975 in one step. They were awarded for outstanding achievements as well as many years of meritorious work in the aforementioned service industry. However, the maximum number of awards was limited to 110 carriers annually. The medal could only be awarded once to the same person.

Appearance and wearing style

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm showed the entwined letters DL (service) in the middle of its obverse , three quarters of which are framed by a modern, open-top laurel wreath. The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the small state coat of arms of the GDR on top and the five-line inscription below: FOR OUTSTANDING / PERFORMANCE IN THE FIELD OF / HOUSEHOLD AND COMMUNAL MANAGEMENT / LICHENSTLEISTUNGEN . The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 13 mm wide blue clasp in which a 2.5 mm wide orange central stripe was woven vertically.
