Medal for excellence in trade in the German Democratic Republic

The medal for excellence in trade in the German Democratic Republic was a state award from the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The medal was donated on January 30, 1975 in one step. They were awarded for outstanding performance and exemplary work in solving economic tasks in trade and foreign trade in the GDR. Initially, the maximum number of awards was limited to 100 awards a year, but rose by 100 in 1986 to a total of 200.

Appearance and wearing style

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm showed a winged H in the center of its obverse with the three-line inscription below: FOR OUTSTANDING / PERFORMANCE / IN TRADING . Below the lettering were two laurel branches that were crossed at the bottom and bent slightly upwards. The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the GDR's national coat of arms. The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 13 mm wide white clasp in which a 2.5 mm wide blue central stripe was woven vertically.
