from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The medal for outstanding achievements in the chemical industry of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The medal was donated on January 30, 1975 in one step. They were awarded for outstanding achievements or many years of meritorious work in this area. However, the maximum number of awards was limited to 100 carriers annually. The medal could only be awarded once to the same person.

Appearance and wearing style

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm showed a raised, embossed chemical plant in the center of its obverse . Three quarters of this is enclosed by the inscription: FOR OUTSTANDING MERIT and two crossed laurel branches, which together with the inscription form a full circle. The remainder of the inscription can be read under the chemical plant as a raised, embossed two-line inscription: IN DER CHEMISCHEN / INDUSTRIE . The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the large state coat of arms of the GDR in the middle. The medal was worn on the left upper side of the chest on a 25 × 12.5 mm wide yellow clasp in which a 2.5 mm wide red central stripe was woven vertically.
