Medal for excellent performance in the metalworking industry of the German Democratic Republic

The medal for outstanding achievements in the metalworking industry of the German Democratic Republic was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). The medal was donated on January 30, 1975 in one step. They were awarded for outstanding performance and many years of meritorious work in the metal industry . However, the maximum number of awards was limited to 210 carriers annually. The medal could only be awarded once to the same person.

Appearance and wearing style

The gold-plated medal with a diameter of 30 mm showed a VEB with a smoking chimney on its obverse , in front of it a high-voltage pylon and a gearwheel. These symbols are three-quarters enclosed by the inscription: FOR EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE . The reverse of the medal, on the other hand, shows the small state coat of arms of the GDR and the three-line inscription below: IN DER METALL- / VERARBEITENDEN / INDUSTRIE . The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest on a 25 × 12.5 mm wide blue-gray clasp in which a 2.5 mm wide blue central stripe was woven vertically.
