The medal for the prize "For Outstanding Scientific Achievements" was a prize from the Free German Youth (FDJ) of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded from 1972. The award was given to individuals and FDJ collectives, in particular to students from technical colleges and universities who had contributed to strengthening the national economy through excellent scientific achievements in their respective individual sectors. This concerned u. a. the development of high-quality production machines and production systems.

Appearance and wearing style

The medal has the shape of a trapezoid , the right half of which is defined by FDJ blue and the left half by white bars. The symbol of the FDJ is embedded in the center. The reverse of the medal is smooth and shows a horizontally soldered brooch pin.
