Medal in memory of the war of 1870/71

The medal commemorating the war of 1870/71 was donated on March 11, 1871 by Duke Ernst I of Saxony-Altenburg and could be awarded to people who had accompanied him directly to the war .

The bronze medal shows two entwined E (Ernst) on the obverse and the ducal crown above . The year 1870 1871 is enclosed by a laurel wreath on the back , interrupted by a horizontal line.

The medal was worn on a crimson ribbon on the left chest.
