Medaurus

Medaurus or Gr. Medauros was an Illyrian god of war . He was depicted as a rider with a lance.

Medaurus was the protective deity of the Dalmatian city Risinium in what is now Montenegro.

The cult of the Medaurus is also attested in the North African city of Lambaesis by an inscription in the temple of Asclepius .

In a grotto at the Cape of Santa Maria di Leuca ( province of Lecce ) an inscription mentions the Liburnian ships Medaurus and Rhedon, named after Illyrian deities .
