Medea Wardani Abrahamjan ( Armenian Մեդեա Աբրահամյան , Russian Медея Абрамян ; born March 8, 1932 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Armenian cellist and professor.

biography

Medea Abrahamjan went to the Yerevan Music School Peter Tchaikovsky for 10 years and later to the Yerevan State Conservatory . In 1956 she graduated from the Moscow Conservatory and studied with the world-famous cellist Mstislaw Leopoldowitsch Rostropowitsch .

Medea Abrahamjan gave concerts all over the world. In addition to classical and modern composers, the works of Armenian composers make up a large part of their numerous appearances. Many of these works were premiered by her. Many other works were created with her participation or were dedicated to her.

In addition to her performances, Medea Abrahamjan has been teaching at the Yerevan State Conservatory and the Yerevan Music School Peter Tchaikovsky for decades. Your students come from all over the world.

She was curator at many international, all-Soviet and Armenian competitions and held master classes .
