Mediabox

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mediabox is a set-top box (STB) for receiving programs encoded in SECA Mediaguard 1 . This set-top box should be used in Germany to enable reception of Premiere (digital).

The Mediabox was commissioned by the French operator Canal + , which also held shares in Premiere.

The Mediabox was built by Philips in different versions and was given the model number DSI175 / 02G in Germany.

The Mediabox presented here was only delivered to 20,000 subscribers of Premiere (digital) in 1997 in the test phase (selected regions of Germany) , but was exchanged for the d-box a short time later . However, the Mediabox is still used as a set-top box in France, Spain and Italy.
