Push-up player

A push-up device is an automaton that operates the keys of an electric piano and thus replaces a human pianist . The automated game is controlled by piano rolls , which are transported by means of negative pressure and converted into movements of the key pens.

Manufacturers of such push-up players were among others the companies Ludwig Hupfeld AG , M. Welte & Sons and the American Piano Company .
