Media forum NRW

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Medienforum NRW was one of the most important media congresses in Germany and Europe. Since its first edition in 1989, the congress had developed into a central meeting point for the media and communications industry. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary, the media forum was realigned in 2013. It took place in 2013 from June 5th to 7th in Cologne's Gerling district. Under the title “Changing Media, Changing Society”, the congress was devoted to keynotes and podiums to challenges and future strategies in connection with the digitized media world.

On March 19, 2018, the Hamburg media magazine new business reported that the Media Forum NRW 2018 would not take place. Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) informed the State Parliament Committee for Culture and Media at the beginning of March that there was “no interest” in the media forum “old style ".

history

The Medienforum NRW has taken place once a year since 1989, first in 1989 in Dortmund and since then in Cologne . The congress offered its visitors a national and international platform for contact, discussion and information. Initially the Medienforum NRW was a joint event of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the State Agency for Media NRW (LfM). Between 2005 and 2012 the LfM was the sole organizer of the Medienforum NRW, which from 2006 to 2012 commissioned LfM Nova GmbH with the organization and implementation of the event. In connection with the expansion of its tasks in 2011, the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW took over the lead management of the reorientation of the media forum in 2013.
