Megaman (brand)
Megaman is a brand name and a registered trademark for compact fluorescent lamps / KLL (energy saving lamps ) and LED lamps. The brand has been run by IDV Import- und Direktvertriebsges.mbH in Langenselbold since 1994 . According to GfK, the brand is one of the three largest suppliers of energy-saving lamps in Germany, alongside Osram and Philips . The lamps are supplied by the partner company Neonlite Electronic & Lighting (HK) Ltd. Developed in Hong Kong and produced in Xiamen , China .
In 2001 Neonlite took over the “Megaman” brand for all Neonlite products, which was established by IDV. The Megaman brand is available in over 90 countries.
Only energy-saving lamps (LED and KLL) are sold under the Megaman brand. There are over 300 different models on offer, which, according to the company, is the market leader in Europe. In addition to common KLL models in tubular and incandescent lamp shapes, dimmable energy-saving lamps, a large selection of reflector lamps and particularly small energy-saving lamps are available in stores under the brand. For LED products, the brand has focused on LED reflector lamps for professional object lighting. Distribution channels are electrical wholesalers and electrical retailers, DIY and hypermarkets, department stores and mail order. For 2007 sales of more than 10 million lamps were reported.
Qualitative studies and comparative evaluations of the brand's products are regularly carried out by Stiftung Warentest and in the “EcoTopTen” overviews of the Öko-Institut in Freiburg.
